I can’t name the wind that brought me here I can’t give that wind a name I can’t name the hands that hold me here I can’t give those hands a name Who can name the wind Who can name the wind I can’t name the lies I told myself Or when lies were told to me I can’t see the walls I built myself Or find the lock and key Tell me who can name the wind Who can name the wind You’re never stronger than when you land  On the other side of despair Sing to it there  Sing to it there   Sing to it there  I can hear the stories in the wind And they never stay the same And the ones we breathe between ourselves I can’t give that wind a name Tell me who can name the wind Who can name the wind

Love is Love 02:35
I don’t how fishes float But fishes float they do I don’t know how the birdies sing But sing birdies do I don’t know why the rooster crows But crow rooster crow I don’t know why flowers grow But grow flowers grow Well love is love and love is love Nothing is more true And when I think of love you know I always think of you Love is, love is love is love Love is, love is love is love (repeat) I don’t know why honey’s sweet But honey’s sweet it’s true I don’t know how lovers meet But lovers meet they do I don’t know what makes us go But go we always go I don’t know what I don’t know I know that I don’t know Yellow, red or brown or blue No matter what they are Every time I think of you I thank my lucky stars Love is, love is love is love Love is, love is love is love (repeat)

Tell My Mom 03:46
Tell my mom I love her, tell my daddy too But I've got to leave this town to do what I must do Tell everyone I'm going, though I haven't got a clue       Where on earth I'll get to, or what I'm gonna do   I'll catch the train that's running, and ride it to the end I'll catch the sun as it goes down, then ride it up again   When I was a little girl this town seed big enough                     But soon as I could tear it up, I swear this whole place shrunk There's nothing in this whole town to keep me in its fold Its doors have all been locked and sealed and left me in the cold   I'll catch the train that's running, and ride it to the end I'll catch the sun as it goes down, then ride it up again Tell the ones who loved me, tell the others too I would have left here long ago if it hadn't been for you   Tell the ones who loved me, tell the others too I would have left here long ago if it hadn't been for you Won’t you tell the ones who loved me, tell the others too I would have left here long ago if it hadn't been for you If it hadn't been for you, if it hadn't been for you   I'll catch the train that's running, and ride it to the end I'll catch the sun as it goes down, then ride it up again   Tell mother in the morning, after I have gone           I didn't want to hurt her, but I hurt myself too long   Stop that train, I’m leaving Stop that train, I’m leaving Stop that train, I’m leaving…

Horse 02:57
The very stones of the mountain shake And light is fleeing to the hills If the terror doesn’t get you first Then the heartache surely will The rain weeping down The wind a roaring sound Projectile fir cones in the air Longing for that simple road A light to lead you home The touch of ground that isn’t there The storm is strong said the boy Our love is stronger said the horse Hold my strong back and I will carry you Through this wild and wicked world Spells and miracles They have their place Truth is we’ll all be sinking soon But til that day arrives On this salvation ride You carry me I’ll carry you The storm is strong said the boy Our love is stronger said the horse Hold my strong back and I will carry you Through this wild and wicked world The storm is strong said the boy Our love is stronger said the horse Hold my strong back and I will carry you Through this wild and wicked world

Go Mama 04:41
A fist curls up in anger A word lands like a blow A glance thrust like a dagger Love retreats like shadow The promise to protect you Are the words of a lover Not the one who looms above you And you ache to recover Should you go mama go? Should you stay mama stay? I don’t know mama, no. It’s not for me to say. It’s not for me to say It’s the thing you least expect It’s the tightening of the pull It’s the creeping disrespect And the glass that’s never full In the dim light of reflection A whisper from the mirror A desperate strangled question Who will be my savior?  Should you go mama go? Should you stay mama stay? I don’t know mama, no. It’s not for me to say. It’s not for me to say     But if you ever  cross that border If you ever cross that line I’ll believe you when the bullies And the bad men fume and lie If not through cruel coercion But a choice you fully own May strength be yours in portion As you heal your heart and home  Should you go mama go? Should you stay mama stay? I don’t know mama, no. It’s not for me to say. It’s not for me to say Ooh The pathway to redemption  might be just outside your door It might be true compassion that overcomes and conquers Should you go mama go? Should you stay mama stay? I don’t know mama, no. It’s not for me to say. It’s not for me to say

Mandolin 03:23
I can see you Uncrumbled from the ground Come in the side door Sit your body down Smell of tobacco Flicker of the flame Snap of the lighter Written with your name I’m an acorn That fell far from the tree Still the root grows The same for you and me Here’s your mandolin Won’t you sing and play Polly Wolly Doodle all the day All the day oooh eee… Oh I went down South Li di di di di du di di du Fare the well oh fare the well Oh fare thee well Oh the mist is Hanging in the trees Mushrooms rise from Beneath the rotting leaves The way all our hands will Crumble to the ground The way love and music Will always be around

In the morning I walk out into the world The world walks into me Thru the brightening mirror of the sky The scent of the fallen leaves The gabble of gulls at the water’s edge The solemn gaze of the trees In the morning I walk out into the world The world walks into me…

Red Purse 01:40
I’ve got a little red purse With a tiny golden clasp And a silky secret pocket Hidden way in the back   I’ve got some money for the bus And some more for lunch And some pennies in a packet Got ‘em all in a bunch      And I bet that you could find it If it I lost it Even though It’s a teeny tiny little red purse   If I fell off a mountain If I jumped off a cliff If I drowned in a fountain If I dove in a ditch I listened to my mama When she told me that I must Always have it with me Then I’ll always have enough I got a quarter and a pencil And photo of my face Got a letter from my mama And some numbers just in case Got a band-aid and a whistle And a searchlight and a missile And it’s all in my little red purse

Remember that day, it was April or May When the sky opened wide, and we were caught in the tide That’s when I noticed something about you I forgot that I knew, but it’s something you do When you’re bracing yourself for the worst In the face of a cruel universe You were cowering like under a curse That’s when I knew, I’m never gonna leave you   I remember that day, though now it’s decades away How we lost ourselves then like we were children again That’s when I saw what you must’ve been through When you were somebody’s child, shaking inside You were bracing yourself for the worst In the face of a cruel universe You were cowering like under a curse That’s when I knew, I’m never gonna leave you If I knew you back then I would have taken you in, taken you in  From the rain Taking you in from the rain Taking you in from the rain Taking you in from the But it was clear on that day, when we were drenched all the way How the past that had been had made the present begin We lost our umbrellas so we clung to each other And we let the rain fall, cause we now had it all We were bracing ourselves for the worst In the face of a cruel universe But we were whispering these words   I’m gonna take you in, I’m gonna take you in From the rain Taking you in from the rain Taking you in from the rain Taking you in from the rain Taking you in from the

You can take away Take away Take away Take away the world Take away But I won’t go away Go away Go away Evermore away Go away Every evil, every crime Every carnage, cannot hide Without time and silence Time and silence In my body and my blood Lives an unrelenting judge Blind to time and silence Time and silence

Soul Spring 03:39
Where do you go to find The spring where your soul drinks deep Tell me is the water there bitter or sweet Tell me is the water there bitter or sweet Does the water restore your heart Does it fill you up at the center So that something of your essence Flows out to this thirsty world So that something of your essence Flows out to this thirsty world Where do you go to find The spring where your soul drinks deep Tell me is the water there bitter or sweet Tell me is the water there bitter or sweet

Magician 02:51
The man in the cape, the “magician”  Ran off as the last clapping died’ But nobody knew when the magic was through What to do with this new tribe of brides Cause half of us are talkers, and half just walk away   And half of us can promise you that half of us will stay Nobody said it’d be easy But I think we were led to infer That if we climbed into the box on our own We’d climb out the same as we were   Now part of me can leave you, as part stays by your side Part will vanish in the crowd, the rest will be your bride   Maybe half of every woman Gets into it over her head I’ll need you to help to arrange me somehow In a comfortable way on the bed   Now part of me can leave you, as part stays by your side Part will vanish in the crowd, the rest will be your bride Part of me remembers, while part gets thinking all wrong See how the doves turned out to be scarves After the magic was gone   Cause part of me is with you, as part walks out alone You know I’d give you all my love, if that were possible You know I’d give you all my love, if that were practical

about

Healing music, light as a feather, hits you like a rock.

The members of the Go Janes performed for nearly four decades before creating a trio together, long enough to express what we’ve learned with tender and wise hearts: that anything worthwhile takes patience and calm. Attributes not exactly in high demand in our fast and highly distractible times, but a respite if you’ll take it.

Two members of the acclaimed satirical trio Uncle Bonsai, the artistic director of the consistently sold-out Wintergrass Festival, local activists and soloists, educators and songwriters make up the Go Janes. It’s not their first rodeo.

“I love the stunning harmonies and the perfect accompaniment of ukulele and guitar - a simple yet effective way to deliver the poetry of each song that offers a fresh perspective on the hardships, objects , and stresses of everyday life, delivered in a fashion that gives us hope and inspiration.”
~Ron Olesko, WFDU Fairfield, NJ

“What the McGarrigles are to Toronto, the Go Janes are to the Pacific Northwest.”
~ Joel Tepp, musician

Lush female harmonies, harp-like ukuleles, and acoustic guitar support the Go Janes’ disarmingly gracious look at life in all its light and darkness (and there is often a choice between the two). Humor is sustenance, as are lessons of love learned over generous amounts of time.

“Raconteurs, observers of life, trio with great harmony vocals – the Go Janes’ smart songs and tight sound are worth hearing over and over again.”
~ Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer, TWO-TIME GRAMMY® Award Winners

We’re thrilled to release our first album. We think it is beautiful. We created the kind of music we’d like to hear, and hope that others feel the same. Listen and enjoy! And thanks for buying and recommending our music to others. Your support means the world to us.
